Who should the temporary moderators be?
As we have set up communities here on the Codidact network we've been appointing temporary moderators. Ultimately, of course, we want each community to choose its own moderators; we've been doing this as a stopgap, while communities are forming, so Codidact staff don't have to handle all the flags (some of which we might not understand because y'all are the experts, not us).
The Code Golf community is already quite active, both here and in chat. We want your input: who should the initial moderators be? I say "initial" -- plan to do something more formal and permanent later, but in the meantime, we need a couple of people who are able to lead this community's early activity.
What do moderators do? Aside from the community-leadership aspect already mentioned, on Codidact they:
-
handle flags (soon you'll be able to get some help with that, when abilities roll out, but mostly it'll be mods for a while)
-
have all the tools -- close/reopen, delete/undelete, locks, user warnings/suspensions when needed (rare we hope), and more
-
create and edit help topics, so you have a place to put policies, guidance, etc
-
act as representatives of the community when requesting features from the Codidact team. There are some things, like creating new categories or changing configurable site settings, that require admin access. Mods are the people we want those requests to come from. (If it's something big, we'll ask you to show us community consensus, for example a well-received meta post.)
Moderators do not have access to users' PII. (I don't even have access to users' PII. We try to keep that locked down for everyone's safety.)
Please use answers here for nominations. You can nominate yourself or others -- one candidate per post. If someone nominates you, please edit or comment to indicate whether you'd accept the nomination, and feel free to add anything else about you that the community should know. We'd like to have at least two moderators; a moderator should always have a peer to check with on tricky matters or to defer to where there's conflict of interest.

With equally great hesitation, I'll also throw my hat in the ring if Jo King does not respond. (If he does, I'd rather Chris be the second moderator.)
I was on the PPCG SE site for a relatively long time (couple of years) and know how things work. (I've had access to review queues, close votes, and other basic moderation tools.) I admit I have zero actual moderation experience, but I am rather active on this site and would like to see it grow.

Please welcome your new moderators: Quintec, Chris Jester-Young, and Jo King. All three have community support and I said "at least two", so we're happy to appoint all three as temporary moderators. They've been pointed in the direction of the Secret Mod Tools (heh), which I promise to not include special byte-count-optimizing compilers.

I nominate Jo King, as they were already voted as moderator by the community earlier.
They have proven to be an active and trustworthy moderator, who is also a consistent contributor to the code golf community.
I also endorse the nomination for Jo King. However, they have yet to accept the nomination, leaving us with zero viable nominations as of current writing. So, with great hesitation, I put my name forward.
People who were on "the other site", especially in its early days, may remember me; I was one of the inaugural "pro tem" moderators there, and helped guide a lot of the policies at the time. Like Monica and Jo King, I am extremely familiar with the moderation workflow there. In that sense, I'm as qualified as any other (ex-)moderator to do the job.
My biggest limitation is time. My job keeps me very very busy, and I'm also a leader for a gaming community of several hundred members that I've run for the last three years. Right now, our traffic level here seems low enough for me to work with. I'm certainly happy to help shape our community in its infancy. Once we become more established, though, we should probably find other moderators. :-)
